Generic Viagra, also known as sildenafil citrate, is an oral therapy used to treat erectile disfunction or impotence. Its active ingredient, the citrate salt of sildenafil, is a selective inhibitor of cGMP -specific PDE5 (cyclic guanosine monophosphate-specific phosphodiesterase type 5).

Viagra pills come in 25 mg, 50 mg and 100 mg doses. The common starting dose is 50mg, but it is your doctor who should advise you about the correct dose you might need.
